Tailored funding package lifts engineering company out of administration
Customers objective
Financial support was provided for the purchase of a UK engineering company that was put into administration after its US parent company was forced into administration. The company, experts in producing metal pressings and castings, was to be sold as a going concern.
Problems to overcome
The £500k finance deal was particularly complex as the asset was die cast plant with limited value; the commercial property wasn’t owned; there was no deposit available and there were other legal complications.
Deal structure
A workable asset based solution was created which incorporated the funding being repaid over 60 months and with the finance company taking a shareholding with appropriate associated warranties and agreed exit routes for all parties.
Conclusion
To the customers’ satisfaction, he was able to buy the business with no outlay - and with a 3 month payment holiday.

Essential funding package gets new start concrete company off the ground
Customers objective
A new start concrete company wanted to purchase a new volumetric concrete dispenser, comprising of a Scania truck and Armcon cementech unit, to expand their production and increase profits.
Problems to overcome
As new start business and with a deposit of only £17,000, high street funders did not have the appetite to lend the money.
Deal structure
A funding package was provided comprising of £153,000 asset finance and a Small Firms Loan Guarantee (SFLG). An SFLG is used where there is a shortfall of traditional security and is ideal for small firms and new start businesses. VAT was deferred using a 3 month charge on residential property. Once the VAT was paid, the charge was removed.
Conclusion
By using an asset finance product via Genesis Finance (UK) combined with an SFLG, even with a minimal deposit, the customer was able to complete the purchase of the cement dispenser and to start the growth of their concreting business.
